Plot/Synopsis:
Shiza is the nickname of a 15-year-old boy. Money, power, and women – he has none of these, yet, in his young life. But, he does have the illegal, underground circuit of bare-knuckle fist-fighting, where he is able to eke out a living by scouting for fighters. When a man is accidentally killed in the ring, though, his life is changed forever. He decides that he should return the dead man’s money to his widow and child. But, after he meets the woman, Shiza understands that he has real feelings of love for her. Now, he knows for whom he must earn money, no matter what the cost…

Plot/Synopsis:
Having just completed his naval service, a young man travels back to the Kazakh steppe to take a bride and begin his new life as a shepherd. Asa is eager to go back to the countryside, where he plans on living a nomadic life along with his sister and her husband. His sister’s husband is a shepherd, a career that Asa, too, hopes to someday undertake. But before that happens, Asa will have to find a bride — not an easy task on the deserted steppe. Young Tulpan is the daughter of another shepherd family and the most obvious choice, yet she isn’t attracted to Asa due to his big ears. Will Tulpan ever be able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a shepherd, or is he forever condemned to lead the life of a lonely bachelor?

Plot/Synopsis:

The film opens with the young, listless and beautiful Kelin (which actually means daughter-in-law) being prepared for her arranged wedding. Her true love has lost out to a richer suitor, but not before binding himself to her through a blood oath. Adorned in sumptuous headgear and dress, Kelin is taken far away, on an ox, to her husband’s house, to live with, presumably, his elderly mother and younger brother.
Despite being forced into the marriage, she discovers that he is not such a bad catch after all, along with the joys of sex. Domestic bliss does not last long, however, as her first love comes looking for revenge, triggering a series of dramatic events…

Plot/Synopsis:

The movie is an epic story of a young Genghis Khan and how events in his early life lead him to become a legendary conqueror.The 9-year-old Temüjin is taken on a trip by his father to select a girl as his future wife. He meets Börte, who says she would like to be chosen, which he does. He promises to return after five years to marry her. Temüjin’s father is poisoned on the trip, and dies. As a boy Temüjin passes through starvation, humiliations and even slavery, but later with the help of Börte he overcomes all of his childhood hardships to become one of the greatest conquerors the world has ever known.

Plot/Synopsis:

The Gift to Stalin is a film that tells the story of a little boy named Sasha who is sent to Kazakhstan. He is saved from death by an old Kazakh man, Kasym, who takes the boy to his home. The film is set in 1949. The title, The Gift to Stalin has two significances. In 1949, the Soviet government carried out a nuclear test for the anniversary of Stalin’s 70th birthday. Many innocent people fell the victims to the nuclear test. The other significance is about Sashka’s dream. He hopes that if he gives Stalin a gift, he will be able to see his parents again, not knowing that they were killed.

Plot/Synopsis:

Czech New Wave leader Ivan Passer picks up the torch originally ignited by Russian director Sergei Bodrov to bring Central Asia’s first-ever event film to the light of the silver screen.
Penned by Russian screenwriter Rustam Ibragimbekov, Nomad tells the tale of 18th-century Kazak military strategist Ablai Khan — a forward-thinking visionary whose efforts to unify his country eventually helped to define Kazakhstan’s borders.
Warned by a mystical Kazak warrior named Oraz that a child who will unite the warring local tribes and free his people is about to be born, invading Jungar leader Galdan Ceren — whose soldiers are currently occupying Kazakhstan — instructs his assassins to target Mansur, the son of a local sultan.
After being saved from a grim fate by none other than Oraz, Mansur is raised to become a fearless warrior whose vision of a unified Kazak state drives him to fulfill the ancient prophecy.
