Plot/Synopsis:
Follow 12-year-old Brendan as he battles Vikings and confronts an ancient serpent god on a mission to locate a legendary crystal and complete the mythical Book of Kells.
Brendan lives in a heavily fortified medieval outpost known as the Abbey of Kells, where the ongoing threat of Viking raids causes the peaceful monks to live in a state of constant fear. Along with his uncle, Abbot Cellach, Brendan labors to fortify the abbey walls daily so his people will be protected from invading forces.
When the mysterious Brother Aidan arrives at the abbey carrying an unfinished tome filled with mystical secrets, Brendan becomes illuminated, and his dormant talents are awakened. The book must be finished, but accomplishing that mission will be no simple task.
As the Vikings close in, Brendan ventures into the surrounding forest and prepares to confront his darkest fears. Plot/Synopsis:
Josie (Pat Shortt) is a good-natured man with learning difficulties who lives and works at a garage in a small rural Irish village. The owner, called Mr Gallagher, is a former school classmate who is not interested in the garage and is only waiting for the right offer from developers so he can sell. For Josie, one day rolls into the next with nothing but his menial job and a few pints in the local pub, even though the regulars mock him and his ways. Kind-hearted Josie’s only other companion is a large horse that is tethered alone in a field. When he visits, he talks to the animal and brings it an apple.
However one day his boss hires his girlfriend’s 15-year-old son, David (Conor Ryan) to help Josie. Slowly Josie connects with David as they endure the slow and menial pace of the garage. One night after work, Josie innocently shares some beers with David. They sit and watch the sunset at the rear of the garage. Josie joins David and other local teenagers down by the railway tracks brings beer for all of them. The new social aspects to his life lift his confidence. At the local pub, he gets the courage to dance with Carmel, the local shopkeeper. But she shows her cynicism for Josie by explicitly telling him she feels no physical attraction towards him. Not realising that Josie’s innocuous intentions were purely friendly and innocent.

Plot/Synopsis:
Banned in Ireland until 2004 for its criticism of church and state, this documentary chronicles the changes Ireland has gone through since the political uprising of 1916. Dark shadows are cast on the Emerald Isle as social problems plague the Irish. The upper classes retain the austerity of the British aristocracy despised by all but the Orange Order, who are loyal to the crown. The church is an ever-present factor in the daily lives of the children, most who attend religious schools. Every subject of concern to the Irish is found in the pubs, a traditional meeting and drinking place for all. Informative commentary gives accurate historical reference to the past and present events that affect the people of Ireland. Ironically, the year after this film’s release (1969) would see a return to the violence and social chaos that has long been a bloody part of Irish history.

Plot/Synopsis:
This movie follows a day in the life of 2 Dublin Heroin addicts, Adam and Paul.

Adam is the taller and slightly smarter of the two while Paul is his sidekick. Friends since they were small boys, Adam and Paul have withered into two hopeless, desperate Dublin junkies, tied together by habit and necessity. The film follows the pair through a single day, which, like every other, is entirely devoted to the business of scrounging and robbing money for drugs.

The difference today is that Adam and Paul already near rock bottom have finally run out of luck, credit and friends.

Plot/Synopsis:

Finding himself the victim of an attack on the wrong side of the tracks of a crime-ridden city, Paul Graynor, a press photographer who works exploiting the tabloid news, finds himself the focus of it. He tries to come to terms with his attack, though the scars – both psychological and physical – prove impossible to heal.

Plot/Synopsis:

Director Ian Fitzgibbon crafts this darkly comic tale, produced and set in Ireland, about a dissolute scriptwriter and a dejected actor who become unwittingly drawn into a labyrinthine mess when several people experience bizarre accidental deaths in their flat. Plot/Synopsis:

Between The Canals follows three small time criminals from Dublin’s north inner city as they each aspire to be somebody in a fast-changing society. There’s Liam, a small time dealer, who wants to quit his life of crime to become an electrician and provide for his girlfriend and son; Dots, a crazy, irresponsible thug with ambitions to become a big-time dealer and Scratchcard, a drug user with no ambitions but to stay on social welfare and watch the world go by.

Liam is torn between loyalty to his friends and his responsibility to be a good father to his son. He suffers from guilt but is finding it difficult to make the necessary changes to improve his life. His loyalty to his friends is strong, his uncle has been murdered and his girlfriend Gemma is now taking money from local gangster Paul Chambers. Liam has to just get through this one day and maybe things will look brighter on the other side. But it’s Saint Patrick’s Day and in Dublin City that means trouble everywhere…
