Plot/Synopsis:

Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humor, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought straight-laced FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door. A murder which appears to be the work of an occult serial killer is the first incident the relevance of which is then revealed by Boyle in a briefing by an FBI agent sent to liaise with the Gardai. A web of bribery, blackmail and killings ensues. Boyle and Everett form an unlikely alliance and with the unwitting help of the IRA bring about a bloody denouement.

Plot/Synopsis:

A friendship between two young people grows into a dangerous obsession in this drama based on the acclaimed stage play by Enda Walsh. Darren and Sinead were born moments apart in the same hospital in a small Irish community. Nicknamed “Pig” and “Runt,” Darren and Sinead grew up next door to each other and became inseparable friends while they were still toddlers; at the age of 16, their bond is even stronger than ever. However, Darren and Sinead also have a fondness for making trouble, and over the years Darren has developed a taste for violence; one of his favorite pranks is to have Sinead flirt with a man at the local disco, and then storm up, posing as her jealous boyfriend, and start a fight. Several people in town feel there’s something not entirely healthy about Darren and Sinead’s relationship, and Sinead’s parents are persuaded to send her away to a school in the northern part of Ireland. Plot/Synopsis:

Writer/director Siddiq Barmak makes his film debut with Osama, the first all-Afghan feature released since the end of the Taliban rule. In the early days of the regime, a young girl and her widowed mother participate in a demonstration for women’s right to work. When the demonstration is broken up by the Taliban, they hide out with local street kid Espandi. When the Taliban take over a hospital where the mother secretly works, they are arrested and jailed. Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty is a six-minute-long CG/flash animated socially satirical black comedy short film, directed by Nicky Phelan and produced by Darragh O’Connell of Brown Bag Films in 2008. It was written by Kathleen O’Rourke. The plot centres on Granny O’Grimm, a seemingly sweet old lady, who loses the plotline as she tells her own version of Sleeping Beauty to her terrified granddaughter.

Granny O’Grimm started life as a character in a sketch in Kathleen O’Rourke’s comedy show. Director Nicky Phelan saw Granny O’Grimm’s potential as an animated character and, with Brown Bag Films, production began in 2008. Kathleen O’Rourke reprised her role to voice the character in the short film.

The film received funding from the Irish Film Board, RTÉ and the Arts Council through the ‘Frameworks’ scheme. It has received 11 national and international awards including the Newport Beach Film Festival (Outstanding Achievement in Short Films), Cinegael Montreal (Audience Award, Best Short) and the Heart of Gold Film Festival, Australia (Best Comedy). In January 2010, the film was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards. It was also included in the Animation Show of Shows.
