Seven stories independent from each other. Meaningful and eloquent shorts which can be viewed separately, just like the videos on the internet. Fiction, in a documentary style. About grown-up children, and young adults, who fight the everyday battle, trying to survive and enjoy the moments. Misfits, looking for their way of success.
Titi and Detti Titi has her own problems with the grocery store where she works and with her sexual preferences. Detti her girlfriend. She is dreaming about becoming a fashion designer, prepares new designs every day. Her father is an aggressive alcoholic, she is afraid only of him.
Petike and Tesó carry bands. Petike is a gypsy, and often calls Tesó, whoo is a big baldheaded guy, a skinhead. In return Tesó calls him gippo, but strictly for fun, they are good friends. They dream about having a joint logistics venture. Petike has a serious cough.
Beus, Timi and Ferci Beus and Ferci are a couple, Timi is a friend of Beus. Their planned holiday just cannot start because of the usual broil of the couple. Timi forgets to brig her bed linen, Ferci goes up to her apartment to help.
Joci – is receptionist at a fitness center. His life is not complete, after work he usually hangs out with his breakdancer friends on the streets. One day, the skinheads beat up Kiskati, the breakdancer girl. The offenders show up, one of them is the Bald, who often goes to the gym where Joci works. Joci has the sabers used for practicing. He loses one of them.
Andris and Roland two guys in their twenties trying to make a living as DJs. Andris is a composer too, his first work is about to be published by a foreign company. Roland is envious that is why he is trying to cross Andris everytime. They are preparing for a weekend party, where both of them play. Roland wants to play some fresh stuff, but he just cannot find it anywhere. Andris is trying to help. Zoli doesnt really like to go outside, he is a bit like all of us. All he wants is to finally write out the demons from himself. Everytime he is to start, the phone starts to ring, someone knock ont he door, the tea is ready, or he has to go to the post
Lego, Erika, Galkó and Zsani the branch is going to a party, they meet the tram stop. They all fantasize about drugs and uncontrolled sex. They are uninhibited, they know no limits. They want to have the city, but it has them as well. They have to pay a huge price for their freedom.

A Kockásfülű nyúl (The rabbit with checkered ears) was the title of a 26-episode Hungarian animated children’s series produced in 1978 in the studios of PannóniaFilm. Created by the acclaimed children’s literature writer and graphic artist Veronika Marék and animator Zsolt Richly, its protagonist, the rabbit with checkered ears quickly became one of the most prolific mascots of Hungarian animation.
At its debut the series ran every Saturday in the children’s programming section of the then only Hungarian television channel, Magyar Televízió. The few-minute long episodes consisted of simple stories in which the rabbit with checkered ears helped one or more of the series’ other main characters, four children called Kriszta (dark-haired girl), Menyus (red-haired boy), Kistöfi (blond toddler boy) and Mozdony (big bully) in various situations.

The series was first syndicated in the countries around Hungary, and then in nearly ninety other countries around the world. Having no spoken dialogue, the episodes needed no dubbing (except for text), and the universal storylines were easily comprehensible, making the series adaptable in various countries.
The checkered-eared rabbit’s fame rocketed in and around Hungary with the rise in popularity of retro not only in fashion and design but with the rediscovery of the qualities of Central Eastern Europe’s pre-1980s culture.
It also became somewhat sought after in the U.S., where it is often described as the “bunny in a suitcase” and recalled from its frequent broadcasts on the Pinwheel (TV series) cable program which appeared on the original Nickelodeon (TV channel).
At the time of the original series, merchandising was an unknown term in Hungary, but with the return of the series (as well as other popular children’s programmes of the seventies and eighties from the region) the rabbit can now be found on school accessories, pillows as well as in the form of plush toys..

1957, Budapest. A young defense officer’s loyalty is tested by his mentor in a highly deceptive spy game.

Plot/Synopsis:
This highly symbolic film was released at Budapest in early 1956, the year of the Hungarian Revolution.
The film was meant to deliver the popular message of disapproval to the custodians of totalitarian power, the Hungarian puppets of the Soviet communist rulers. The scene was set as a Trojan Horse in the pre-WW2 decade that the communists denounced in paranoiac hatred and fear.
The film demonstrates the disgusting and risky nature of crowd manipulation for political ends, and the diminished morals of the manipulators.
The “Hannibal” mention in the title of this Hungarian film is not the infamous barbarian general. Instead, it is Professor Hannibal (Erno Szabo) as meek and mild as his namesake was ruthless and savage. The story takes place in the 1930s, during the fascistic regime of Hungary’s Admiral Horthy. Prof. Hannibal does his best to cope with an untenable situation, but is swept up (and swept over) by events. The film is at once an advocation and a condemnation of populist rule, demonstrating the dangers of the mob mentality when the purpose of the mob is forgotten.

Plot/Synopsis:
One night Maloin, a switchman at a seaside railway station situated by a ferry harbour, witnesses a terrible event. He is just watching the arrival of the last ferry at night from his control room on top of a high iron traverse from where he can see the whole bay. Suddenly he notices that the first of the disembarking passengers, a tall thin figure (a certain Brown as it will turn out later) leaves the harbour, but not on the usual route: after getting through customs, he goes around the dock and then withdraws into a dark corner, waiting. Opposite him, in front of the ship, another man soon appears and throws a suitcase towards the man on the shore. He goes and picks it up, then waits in an even darker corner for the other man to join him. Plot/Synopsis:
In the summer of 2003 three twenty-some year old guys – Guli, Virág and Peti Nyéki – waste their times in a small town somewhere in Eastern Hungary. They finished school a couple of years ago, and now they work as barmen in a local disco club, The Flash. The main character, Guli has difficulties finding his place in this small town environment. His mother, a dentist of a local factory – raised him on her own since her husband’s death. Andi, Guli’s ex-girlfriend hangs out with the owner of The Flash. Guli accidentaly breaks a glass while washing it, and as a result a customer cuts his mouth. Guli gets fired from the disco club. The boy tries to hang around living on his mother’s money. The boys meet three young girls on the local beach, invite them to The Flash, where Guli only used to, but Virág and Nyéki still work. Guli drives the girls to the club, Virág is the doorman, Győri is the barman, therefore everything is for free. The night has a good start. But all of a sudden the owner and his company enters the disco, too…

The life of Imre Nagy is the history of the 20th century. He was the first communist leader who – as the living symbol and prime minister of the 1956. Hungarian national revolution – broke with the Warsaw Pact and stood his ground in favour of democracy based on a variety of political parties instead of only one. Plot/Synopsis:
Hungarian filmmaker István Szabó’s moving drama concerns the occupants of an old house who gather on the eve of its demolition to reflect on their lives from World War II to the present. Among the residents are Mrs. Gaskoy (Rita Bekes), a baker’s wife who hid people from the Nazis in the house’s attic, and Maria (Lucyna Winnicka), who remembers her wartime arrest. The house’s occupants recall the events of the previous 40 years in fragments, dealing as much with their personal lives as with the sweeping changes brought by the war and the 1956 revolt. The result is a stirring, memorable portrait of human will and perseverance in the face of incredible obstacles.
