Plot/Synopsis:
”Dysfunctional doesn’t begin to describe the family Paripovic. Mane and Joja are brothers living in a Croatian backwater where men have rock-throwing contests for fun. Mane’s a primitive guy who fights with his neighbor and bullies his family. His addled son Todor is an amateur taxidermist. Joja is a pretty good artist when he’s occasionally sober. Joja’s son is Branko, a Croatian John Cusack who’s comparatively sane. He’s bored and depressed, but he can’t seem to get out of town, even when tough guy creditors start breathing down his neck. Branko vents his frustration by playing in a pathetic punk band and promising his girlfriend they’ll move to Belgrade. The Paripovic family members all live off the small pension their ailing Granny receives from America. When Granny croaks, Mane determines not to let this stop him from getting her payments. He orders Todor and Branko to steal another Granny from the old folks’ home. This second Granny is in many ways more satisfying than the first. But with Branko’s creditors homing in, Mane’s going to defend his cash by any means possible.”

Plot/Synopsis:

The ballet “Flames of Paris” – one of the biggest and most ambitious productions of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. The famous ballet will appear in the new version, where the old dance scenes are combined with the author’s work.

Djuro is a Romany, he has a large, happy family, and earns a living appearing in Serbian porn films. And it’s through his sarcastic perspective that we follow the story of the Croatian war veteran Martin. He falls in love with a beautiful girl who plays Little Red Riding Hood in a porn version of the fairy tale. She is also a prostitute. To be with her, Martin has to buy her from her pimp. A tragicomic story of love in a world where it seems all human values are put up for sale or destined for cynical destruction.

Plot/Synopsis:
One of the most terrible ills of our time, people trafficking, follows the so-called Balkans Route for smuggling people into the West. Bosnian and Croatian papers often carry stories about groups of illegal immigrants discovered by the police, and just as frequent are the news of such imimigrants’ deaths. The Melon Route is inspired by the true story of twelve illegal immigrants who drowned in the river Sava on the border of Bosnia and Croatia. This event has been enlarged in the script, and seen through the eyes of a young Chinese girl, who loses her father in the accident. She enters into a tenuous relationship with an ex-Croatian Army soldier, a cured drug addict suffering from PTSD, who lost everything in the war. The linguistic and cultural barriers between the two protagonists give an added dimension to the film, shot through by the painful realization that it is hard to carry an inescapable burden: one’s place of birth.

Plot/Synopsis:

A bus and a truck are moving towards each other along a two-way traffic highway on a rainy day. At the very beginning we learn that a reckless driver of another car will cause them to collide while trying to pass the bus; we even learn what seats will spell doom for their occupants. The rest of the movie follows two streams of events on the bus and on the truck, getting us to know and like a wide variety of characters, wondering which ones will end up being casualties and holding breath for our favourites. The epilogue brings some more surprises…

Plot/Synopsis:

The setting is a ghetto in the medieval city of Split, where several stories unfold between ten o’clock and midnight on New Year’s Eve. While crowds gather in the old square to listen to a rock concert, three American sailors wander the streets and alleys looking for a prostitute and a drug pusher double–crosses his dealer. A widow and her grieving child, and an addict desperate for a fix, are pulled into a scheme to ship heroin to Munich, and a young couple plots a rendezvous before midnight. Lives are unraveled on this “wonderful night,” amid fireworks and the countdown to midnight.
