Plot/Synopsis:

Krev Zmizelého ( Shadows of the Deceased), the new war film by director-producer Milan Cieslar and screenwriter Vladimír Körner, is certainly no low-budget affair. In fact, with its surfeit of stunning and monumental photography, well-crafted and fierce action scenes, and inordinate number of extras (for a Czech film, at least), it goes a long way toward being a full-bodied European historical epic.

The highly dramatic storyline follows the fate of Helga and her daughter, Dorli, as they struggle to stay alive amid the cruelty and horrors of war, historical change, totalitarian ideology and the evil — sometimes petty, sometimes extreme — of ordinary individuals on all sides of conflict. ~ AMG
