Plot/Synopsis:

Erika Kohut is a pianist, teaching music. Schubert and Schumann are her forte, but she’s not quite at concert level. She’s approaching middle age, living with her mother who is domineering then submissive; Erika is a victim then combative. With her students she is severe. She visits a sex shop to watch DVDs; she walks a drive-in theater to stare at couples having sex. Walter is a self-assured student with some musical talent; he auditions for her class and is forthright in his attraction to her. She responds coldly then demands he let her lead. Next she changes the game with a letter, inviting him into her fantasies. How will he respond; how does sex have power over our other faculties?

Plot/Synopsis:

Voted 1936′s best picture by a circle of prestigious French critics, Jean Renoir’s The Lower Depths (Les Bas-Fonds) is based on the "gutter" play by Russian author Maxim Gorky. Louis Jouvet plays The Baron, forced by circumstance to give up his life of luxury and to set up residence in the slums of Paris. As Jouvet observes the passing parade, he bears witness to the frustrated romance between Jean Gabin and Junie Astor, the thwarted dreams of actor Robert Le Vigan, and the oppressive cruelties of landlord Vladimir Sokoloff. The Lower Depths surprised Renoir’s admirers, who weren’t used to seeing the director involve himself in so sordid and depressing a tale. Actually, the project was brought to Renoir by a producer friend of his, who secured the director’s services by promising to provide Louis Jouvet and Jean Gabin as the leading actors. Renoir’s The Lower Depths would make a fascinating companion piece to Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s 1957 adaptation of the same Gorky play.

A half-ruined merchant lives in the country with his son Ludovic and his three daughters. Two of the daughters, Félicie and Adélaïde, are real shrews: selfish, pretentious, and evil. They exploit the third daughter, Belle, as a servant. One day, on a business trip, on the way home, the merchant gets lost in a forest and enters a strange castle. He picks up a rose for Belle, and the castle’s owner appears. He is a monster, half-human, half-beast, and possesses magic powers. He sentences the merchant to death, unless he gives up one of his daughters. Belle sacrifices herself for her father and goes to the castle, discovering that the Beast is not so wild and inhuman as he seems.

Plot/Synopsis:

The Old Fairy When The Sun Was a God takes place in Ninth Century Europe, when various Slavic tribes lived on the land that later became Poland, at a time when each tribe worshipped it’s own, separate god. A cruel prince, Popiel, and his scheming wife will do anything in their power to pass control of this land to their son (and according to local legend, Popiel will finally be eaten by mice). The commander of Popiel’s army, Piastun, is opposed to the crimes and intrigue that Popiel orders him to force on the people to guarantee the succession, and Piastun decides to leave Popiel. Popiel seeks revenge against the commander, but Piastun is rescued from death by a young hunter and warrior, Ziemowit Pastowic. Ziemowit had spent years living with the Vikings and only recently had returned to this area, his former homeland. Ziemowit falls in love with Dziwa, the lovely daughter of Wisz, a wealthy, local merchant, and wants to marry her. But Dziwa’s fate has been decided by her father–she must become a priestess in the local temple….and so, what will happen to the beautiful princess and her brave suitor? Synopsis :

Synopsis :
The Japanese ambassaor is visiting Marseilles to view the city police’s anti-gang tactics. During the visit, however, he is kidnapped by a group working for the Japanese yakuza. Plot/Synopsis:
